Statistical evaluation of mechanical characteristics of hot-pressed ceramics in ZrB2–SiC system

The effect of the addition 5 mol.% LaB6 on Weibull modulus hot-pressed ceramics in ZrB2-SiC is studied this paper. samples with a relative density 91–92%, flexural strength 300–315 MPa, and Vickers hardness 14–15 GPa are obtained by hot pressing at an isothermal holding temperature 1900°C pres-sure 30 MPa within 15 minutes argon atmosphere. induces increase from 9.5 up to 15.5 when calculating using bending strength, 22.0 31.4 hardness. values calculated somewhat overestimated due local impact pyramid. An associated increasing homogeneity ceramic structure formation more developed system interphase boundaries three-component samples.
